Terms of Entry

Dos Bros Film Challenge · Edition One Last updated 2 August 2026

Plain language wherever we can manage it. If anything here contradicts the rules, the rules win — these terms cover the legal side, the rules cover how the challenge actually runs.

1. Who's running this

Dos Bros is run by two individuals in the United States, self-funded, with no company sponsor. There's no corporate parent, no vendor money, and nothing being sold to you. Contact us through the contact form.

2. Who can enter

  • You must be 18 or older. We can't accept entries from minors — they can't enter binding agreements, and we can't pay them.
  • You must be able to receive payment lawfully. We can't pay into jurisdictions subject to applicable sanctions, and entry is void where prohibited.
  • Organizers can't enter. Judges can't enter the edition they judge.

3. Free to enter

There is no entry fee, and there never will be. Winners are chosen on the judged merit of the work — this is a skill-based contest, not a lottery, sweepstakes, or game of chance. No element of the outcome is random.

4. Your work stays yours

You keep full copyright in your film. Entering changes nothing about who owns it.

By entering, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:

  • screen your film in the showcase,
  • embed or link it on this site,
  • and use stills, clips, and your entry title to promote the challenge —

always with credit to you, and only in connection with this challenge. That's it. We don't get to license it onward, sell it, or use it for anything else, and the licence doesn't stop you doing whatever you like with your own film anywhere else.

No exclusivity. Post it where you want, enter it elsewhere, put it on your channel.

5. If you win

Prizes are not conditional on publishing your workflow. Sharing your method is encouraged and rewarded, never required — see the rules.

If you choose to publish workflow materials — prompts, workflow files, seeds, model lists — those are licensed under CC BY 4.0 so others can build on the method. That covers only what you choose to share, and never the film itself.

You're responsible for your own taxes. Depending on where you live we may need tax paperwork before we can pay you.

6. What you're promising us

By entering you confirm that:

  • the work is yours, made by you (or your named team) during the round;
  • you own or have licensed everything in it — footage, music, images, fonts, third-party assets;
  • it contains no real person's likeness without their written consent;
  • it doesn't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights;
  • it meets the content standard in the rules;
  • and the models and hardware you declared are accurate.

If a claim is brought against us because one of those turns out not to be true, you agree to cover us for it. We're two people funding this ourselves; we can't absorb someone else's rights dispute.

7. We review everything before it's public

No entry auto-publishes. We can decline or remove any entry that breaks the rules or the content standard, at our discretion, and we'll tell you why.

Disqualification grounds are listed in the rules. There's a 72-hour appeals window: one email, reviewed by a judge who wasn't part of the original decision. We owe you one clear explanation; we don't owe anyone a debate.

8. Judging

Judges are named publicly before signups open. Decisions are final, subject to the appeals window above. We publish the reasoning.

Neither organizer enters. One organizer sits on the panel as one vote among an odd number, never as the sole decider.

9. This might not happen

We're honest about this on the front page and we'll be honest here. The round only begins once enough people have signed up. If it doesn't reach that point, we'll email everyone on the list and say so.

We may change these terms or the rules, cancel a round, or stop running this altogether. If we do any of that after a round has opened, we'll email everyone who signed up and explain. We won't quietly leave a dead page up.

10. Liability

We provide this challenge as-is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your entry or participation. Nothing here limits liability that can't lawfully be limited.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA. Nothing here affects consumer rights you have where you live that can't be waived by agreement.

12. Getting in touch

Use the contact form — it reaches both of us and a person reads it.

⚖️ These terms are written in good faith by non-lawyers and have not yet been reviewed by a solicitor. They're a first-edition draft for a free, self-funded, $500 challenge. If you're relying on them for something significant, take your own advice.
